Terms of use

1. General information

Civic Coding - Innovation Network AI for the Common Good is a joint initiative of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection. With Civic Coding, the three ministries are joining forces to contribute to the creation of a vibrant innovation network for AI for the common good, in particular encouraging networking and the exchange of ideas among very diverse actors. The Civic Coding web portal is operated by the Denkfabrik Digitale Arbeitsgesellschaft im BMAS (hereinafter referred to as "operator").

The Civic Coding web portal is aimed at anyone interested in the development and implementation of AI projects for the common good, whether private individuals, start-ups, research institutes or public institutions - the more diverse the users, the better the results.

Access to and use of the password-protected area on the website www.civic-innovation.de is subject to the following terms of use. The terms cover all content provided there, including software programs, informational content, design, layout and graphics. The acceptance of these terms of use is mandatory for the registration and use of the password-protected community area.

We are entitled to change the provisions at any time without prior notice. The users of the restricted area (see below) will be informed about the change, and can object to it with a period of four weeks after being notified. If a user does not exercise this right, the amended terms of use shall be deemed to have been accepted by the user, provided that the operator informs the user in the notification of the right of objection and the meaning of the objection period. For those who object, the use of the password-protected restricted area is no longer possible.

2. Data protection

Detailed information on the handling of personal data can be found in our data privacy policy. This is not part of these terms of use.

The operator is exempt from liability for damages of the user not based on an intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty by the operator, its legal representative or vicarious agent. The present limitation of liability shall not apply to damages arising out of injury to life, limb or health. In particular, the use of software made available on this website is also subject to the disclaimer above. The portal is made available for use as is.

The Civic Coding web portal contains content provided by third parties. The respective third parties are solely responsible for all content they post. The operator is not liable for the accuracy, quality or completeness of the content posted by third parties. Their publication by the Civic Coding platform does not constitute advice, expression of opinion or assertion of facts by the operator. The operator only provides the technical means for publishing the contents. If is notified of corresponding violations of law, the content will be removed immediately.

6. Registration for the password-protected community area

In order to be able to use the extra information, contents and extensive functionalities for networking the web portal, registration, which is free, is required. Our concept is based on the exchange of ideas between different disciplines, sectors and areas - open, on equal footing and focused on applicable solutions. The platform is aimed at all those interested in AI applications for the common good, who want to work together on concrete projects. No entitlement to registration exists. We reserve the right to refuse registrations.

During registration, each user must create a profile and enter data in an input form. The data is transmitted and checked:

  1. If there is a considerable need for revision, the administrators will contact the user, provided that the prerequisites for this are met (e.g. a valid e-mail address).
  2. Profiles that contain prohibited content (see below) can be deleted without being returned for revision.

Entries can be revised, supplemented and updated by the users at any time.

7. Duties of registered users

The password chosen during registration must be kept confidential and may not be passed on to third parties. Users are prohibited from enabling third parties to use the platform with data that is not their own. Misuse must be reported immediately. If users do not comply with the provisions of these terms of use, the operator has the right to deactivate any password at any time.

It is prohibited to make accessible, provide or distribute content that glorifies violence, is racist, pornographic or otherwise offensive, immoral or illegal. This includes images upload by users. It is also prohibited to post advertising. Violations can lead to deletion and temporary or permanent exclusion.

Users are responsible for the content (test and images) they make available, provide or distribute via the web portal. All users confirm that they hold the necessary rights to the content and that they are not violating the rights of third parties.

Users indemnify the operator against all claims made by third parties against the operator due to a culpable violation of their rights by the user in respect of content posted on the platform or through other use of the what is made available.

8. Termination of use of the password-protected area

The profile created during registration for the password-protected area can be deleted at any time via the profile administration section. The deletion of the profile entails the irrevocable deletion of all associated data. The legality of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation. See also the data privacy policy. However, deletion of the profile means that access to the restricted member area and thus to its functions will no longer be possible.

Consent to the storage of personal data provided at registration can be revoked at any time.

9. Applicable law

These terms of use are subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

10. Severability clause

Should one or more of the provisions of these terms of use be invalid or become invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue to apply. Legal regulations then apply in place of the invalid provision. The same applies to any loopholes in the terms of use.
